2003.10.26   Professor Jennifer Tischler of Dartmouuth College gave an interesting lecture, "Menty and the Petersburg Myth: TV Cops in Russia's 'Crime Capital' ".   The popular Russian TV series, << Улицы разбитых фонарей >> "The Streets of Broken Streetlights", known popularly as << Менты >> ("Cops") is set in St. Petersburg where the viewer is drawn to the historical roots of the city with scenery of buildings and monuments juxtaposed with a "cops and robbers" storyline.

 2002.10.27   A Russian art exhibition held at Pinkerton Academy in Derry NH.  The exhibition will continue in Washington, DC from November 1-15 at the Russian Cultural Center
